Thinking about getting Botox for the first time? You’re not alone! Botox has become a popular and accessible treatment for reducing fine lines and wrinkles. However, the idea of getting injections can be a bit daunting, especially for first-timers. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know before, during, and after your first Botox treatment.
What is botox?
Botox, short for Botulinum toxin, is a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes muscles. When injected in small doses, it can smooth out wrinkles and fine lines by preventing the muscles from contracting. It’s most commonly used on the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows (frown lines). Types availble: Botox brand, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Daxxify, Dysport.
Before your appointment
Look for a licensed and experienced practitioner. Check reviews and ask for recommendations from friends or family who have had Botox.
What to expect?
This is a quick 15-20 minute procedure, consisting of quick needle pokes into the skin, minimal discomfort and no down time. Common side effects are minimal bruising, bleeding at the site, and sometimes headache. The rare more serious side effects of ptosis, allergic reaction can be discussed with your provider.
Effects of botox and prevention of wrinkles lasts for up to 90 days.
